Winter is a real test ❄️
With the first snowfall, my “well-trained” dog turns into a wild northern wolf 🐺
Commands? Gone.
Recall? “Sorry, do I know you?”
Leash? Tight as a wire.
And every time, something clicks inside me:
“Am I doing something wrong… or has she completely lost her mind?”
And underneath that — exhaustion.
Because we do train. We put in the work.
And yet winter feels like it resets everything.
Here’s the truth: winter amplifies everything.
Scents are stronger.
Arousal is higher.
Control is harder.
And if your connection isn’t solid —
the snow exposes it instantly ❄️
Sure, you can say:
“It’s winter, she’s just having fun.”
And leave it at that.
Or you can admit:
If I’m not more interesting than the snow, something needs to change.
Sometimes it’s about consistent training.
Sometimes it’s about patience.
And sometimes it’s about simple but effective tools.
For us, one of those tools is @platinum_lt 🐾
We choose Platinum treats because they’re high-value, truly motivating, and reliable in real training — especially in overstimulating environments like winter, when I need instant engagement.
They don’t crumble.
They don’t grease up your hands.
And Luna is absolutely crazy about them 🤍
Not as a bribe.
But as a way to bring the focus back.
As a reminder: “Hey. I matter more than that snowbank.”
Because in moments like that, you have seconds.
Not minutes ⏳
And honestly?
I’d rather have great treats in my pocket
than end up yelling in the street.
Winter doesn’t ruin your dog.
It reveals the weak spots.
Be honest:
Is your recall perfect in winter?
Or do you also pretend your dog is “just enjoying the snow”? 😏
If you train through winter too — tell me what actually works for you.
Let’s talk — no sugarcoating 💬
